Schools Dave
Haugen ---Sioux Falls Public Schools.
Dave has 42 years of band directing.
His teaching experience includes Anoka,
MN and Sioux Falls Lincoln and
Roosevelt High Schools. His high school
bands were consistent sweepstakes
winners at regional and national
competitions. He has served as
President of the SD Bandmasters
Association and Regional Representative
for the National Federation of
Interscholastic Music Association.
Personal honors include the South
Dakota Outstanding Bandmaster Award and
the Outstanding Music Educator Award
for the National Federation. He has
over 33 years of judging

Bob
Carlson ---Sioux Falls Lincoln High
School. Bob has 37 years teaching
experience at all levels. After many
years at Pipestone High School, he is
currently band director at Lincoln High
School in Sioux Falls, SD. His
Pipestone bands have participated in
the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade
and the Macy's Thanksgining Day parade.
In 1998, he was selected for the John
Philip Sousa "Sudler" Award. He has
over 27 years judging

Goheen---Brandon
Valley High School - Brandon, South
Dakota Bob
Goheen has 34 years teaching experience
with the last 25 years at Brandon
Valley High School in Brandon, South
Dakota. His bands have won many awards
in the Quad-State area as well as in
national competitions from Oregon to
Florida. He has taken his band to the
Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New
York City. In 1994, he was named South
Dakota's Outstanding Bandmanster. He
has over 25 years experience judging
bands at all levels.
Kevin
Kessler---Brandon
Valley High School - Brandon South
Dakota Kevin
recently finished his ninth year on the
band staff at Brandon Valley, SD. Kevin
serves as the director of the Marching
Lynx, Jazz II, and the Black Concert
Band at the high school. He is also
director of the seventh grade band at
the middle school. The seventh grade
was invited to perform at the South
Dakota Music Educator's Convention in
February 2002. Kevin is active as a
judge and holds summer workshops for
marching band drum majors. For the past
13 summers, he has been on staff at the
All State Music Camp in Brookings, 10
as head counselor. Craig

Haugen

West High School - Bellevue,
NE Kyle
Haugen is a graduate from Washington
High School and Augustana College both
of Sioux Falls, SD. Mr. Haugen began
his teaching career at Spring Grove
High School in Spring Grove, MN in
charge of band members grades 5-12.
While there, the bands achieved many
superior ratings in all areas of the
program. From 2003 to 2006, Mr Haugen
was the associate band director at
Washington and Roosevelt High School in
Sioux Falls, SD. During this time,
bands under his direction received
consistant superior ratings. He was a
member of the Colts Drum and Bugle Corp
in 1995 and a member of the Madison
Scouts Drum and Bugle Corp in 1998 and
2000. Mr. Haugen is an active drill
writer for bands in the midwest. He is
currently the Director of Bands at
Bellevue West High School in Bellevue,
NE.
